Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer reported that income was generated from five sources in the month of March as follows: Membership $65.00, Brigand’s Wear $629.30, DVD sales $110, Tombola sales $59.15, and Sports Banquet beverage sales $71.00 for a total income of $934.45.  Expenses included $204.16 for the Winter Sports Banquet, $85.00 for banners and $85.00 for plaques.  One outstanding expense is $75.00 to Video Productions for 50% of all DVD sales from the past two sports banquets.  As of 2 April the balance in the Boosters’ AFCU checking account is $6197.43 and in the savings account $512.85.

Athletic Director

The ice machine has been repaired and is running well.  There has been one change to the spring soccer schedule, primarily to accommodate students wishing to take the SAT.  The old date for the away soccer games at AF North was Saturday, 3 May.  Those games will now be played on Friday, 2 May.

Membership

One new member joined at the Winter Sports Banquet.

Booster Wear

One receipt was turned in for All Star Sports from orders generated at the Winter Sports Banquet.

Sports Banquets

There was discussion concerning the sports banquet tombolas.  Members agreed that the purpose for the tombolas was to generate funds for the Booster Club.  Also discussed and tabled for later was the idea that the winter sports banquet tombola should be cancelled due to lower overall athlete participation as compared to fall and spring sports.  A suggestion was also made to kick off the fall sports tombola earlier next year, with sales initiating at the Back to School BBQ this August.

Publicity

No report.

Spirit

The Spirit Committee ran ads two separate times in the Daily Bulletin publicizing and requesting parent participation for Spirit events.  Overall, the committee was pleased with community response, and was able to create parent pins for both soccer and track.  They also decorated athlete lockers, and ordered and received banners just in time for the first track meet / soccer games.  Receipts were turned in for the banners ordered.  Future plans include brainstorming and carrying out projects that will generate school spirit as athletes depart for soccer and track Europeans.  There was some discussion concerning a button machine.  This idea was investigated last year and determined not to be financially feasible.

Old Business

New Business

v         In order to keep the upper parking spaces near the gym and tennis courts open to weekend users, fan bus participants are asked to park down by the racquetball courts.

v         Currently, there are three fan buses scheduled, including:

1.    19 April track meet at Ramstein (deadline for this bus is 14 April)

2.    2 May departing 2:45 PM for AFNorth soccer games

3.    2 May departing early AM for the Alconbury Track meet.

v         A decision was tabled concerning a fourth fan bus 16 May (BAS at ISB / soccer)

v         One bus attendant and one chaperone have stepped forward for the 2 May AF North bus.  Bus attendants must complete a Force Protection training course in order to comply with USAG conditions and terms.

v         Students who wish to participate without an accompanying parent must be 13 years old or older AND in 8th through 12th grade.  These students must fill out a permission slip and in some cases (where the bus departs before the end of the school day) must also have their parents inform the school of their earlier dismissal.

v         Two individuals volunteered to write up DB announcement(s) concerning the various fan buses and their unique details and criteria for participation.

The next Booster Club meeting is scheduled for 7 May, 2008.

The meeting was adjourned approximately 1:15.

Respectfully submitted,

Secretary
