The approved minutes from the January meeting are posted on the
BAS website.
Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer reported that both Brigand’s Wear and the Pancake
Breakfast generated income in the month of February. Boosters also earned .96 in their AFCU savings account. Our expenses included a nominal amount for
the pancake breakfast, approximately $100 for the hospitality rooms provided
during the two home wrestling meets, and $101.94 for trophies. Winter sports’ trophies cost less than
normal this year because Boosters had two (non-inscribed) trophies from the fall
which were utilized for winter sports athletes. Boosters should expect to receive a bill in the near future for
first place plaques. As of 5 March the
balance in the Boosters’ AFCU checking account is $5637.64 and in the savings
account $512.85.
Athletic Director
The ice machine was repaired by replacing the pump. It ran for a day then broke. The BEST team reported that the machine once
again needs a pump. There was
discussion concerning the history of the machine and what our options are for
the future. Boosters purchased the
machine from Carveen Cooling and Air Conditioning on 31 January 2006 for approximately
$3000. It should also be noted that the
exchange rate was much better at that time (approximately .85) and that the
machine purchased was the floor model and relatively less expensive. Finally, the Athletic Director reported that
the track schedule has now been released.
Membership
One new member joined at the Winter Sports Banquet.
Booster Wear
Nothing to report except that sales have been slow.
Sports Banquets
The Winter Sports Banquet was held 28 February. Eleven DVD’s were sold with $110 collected
of which $55 is to be submitted to Video Productions. The tombola effectively broke even, and Boosters also generated
income through beverage sales and Booster Wear sales. One of our student-athletes played the National Anthem on the
electric guitar to open the evening.
His performance was well received by the community. Chairperson suggests that this practice of
showcasing BAS students should be encouraged.
For further information concerning the evening, please see the after
action report.
Publicity
The Publicity Chairperson thanked the coaches for passing on
information used by the Voice of the Brigands.
The Voice was back on the air Thursday after the basketball tournament.
Old Business
New Business
Þ
How will the current championship banners
translate into the new space?
Þ
Should Boosters continue to purchase one banner
per winning season?
Þ
Should
Boosters consider making a major investment in a complete banner overhaul for
the new gym, possibly purchasing one “quality” banner per sport with winning
years listed and added as necessary.
The next Booster Club meeting is scheduled for 2 April, 2008.
The meeting was adjourned approximately 12:45.
Respectfully submitted,
Secretary
