Dr. BerryIt is truly my honor to welcome you to Brussels American School (BAS). Our school is the heart of the American military community in Brussels and considered a family oriented school that houses students in grades K-12. We are very fortunate to have incredible support from the our parents and community members, last school year over 10,000 volunteer hours were recorded in connection with BAS activities, events, athletics, and educational programs to help our students continue to achieve.

Our student body reflects an international environment with students from twenty-two countries. Students learn daily from each other through the richness of other cultures and other viewpoints. Each student is an unofficial ambassador representing his or her country. The Annual International Dinner embraces our multi-national population at BAS, is a showcase of K-12 student and parent time/talents. A portion of the money raised at BAS' Annual International Dinner helps fund BAS Senior Scholarships.

Our seniors all attend four-year institutions of higher learning in the United States and in Europe. The overall grade point average of the senior class is above a 3.0 or B average for four years. Our students take pride in academic achievement and each quarter over sixty percent of our students earn recognition on the honor rolls. These grades reflect effective effort and a commitment to high academic achievement. We offer AP courses in the high school, Talented and Gifted courses in the middle and elementary school, and support classes for students who might need additional assistance.

For a small high school we offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities to include football, volleyball, tennis, cross-country, basketball, wrestling, soccer, track and field, drama, Model United Nations (MUN), National Junior and Senior Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta. In the middle school we offer limited athletic opportunities, however the Youth Services Programs have middle and elementary sports. Middle and elementary students are able to participate in programs after school to include drama, art, student leadership, and academic clubs.

During school year 2004-2005 we received high accolades from the North Central Accreditation team for having a school with fantastic students, supportive parents and community, and a dedicated caring staff of educators. They cited what we believe to be true, that Brussels American School is a wonderful place for students.

I welcome you with honor. Please feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions about our school.
