General Board Meeting Minutes

7 May 2008

 

Present: President, First Vice President, SCA Representative, VP Ways and Means, VP Programming, Publicity, Secretary, FOTA President, VP MS/HS, VP ES/MS, Treasurer,           SCA Sponsor.

 

President called the meeting to order at 1525.

Last months minutes where reviewed, a motion was made to approve, seconded, motion carried.

 

President:  -Outgoing Principal sent a thank you for her gift.

                     -VP MS/HS -thank you for project.  It has been hung in the office.

                    -First Grade teacher-thank you for Breakfast/Coffee morning.

                    -PTSO has their own APO address:

Treasurer:  Financial report presented.  Budget on track for the school year.  Total cash                              $20,921.35 as of this date.

 

1st Vice President:  -Discussed gesture for previous BAS student that passed away—possible   tree.  PTSO to send card the students family. 

                                       -Flowers sent to Registrar

 

VP Ways and Means:   -Snack Shack closes for the year on 3 June. 

                                        -Next Root Beer Float Day 13 June (Friday).  Last one went over very                                        well!

                                           -Classroom Friday’s going well.  Each class makes about a $50 profit.

 

VP Programming:  -Book Fair will be held with the Brigands Bash.  They will have 400 books                         which are geared for grades K-5.  There are many different titles with a                          great variety!

                              

Faculty Representatives: 

VP ES/MS: Judy Taylor toured many classes and was well received.  Overall visit successful.

 

VP MS/HS: K-5 original artwork made a total of $700.  Profit spilt with VP MS/HS and PTSO.  Thank you to all who assisted.  Would like to do again next year and possibly open to high school students. 

 

Secretary:  Nothing to report.

 

Student Rep:  -Thank you for the Field Day Money.  Field Day will be 30 May.

                         -SCA elections and the Award Ceremony will be held on 30 May.

                         -H1 Accord has been approved and is waiting for signature.

                         -SCA will run Lolly Pop stand at the Brigands Bash.

 

 

Committees:

 

Friends of the Arts:  -Selling hamburgers/Hot Dogs for Talent show on 30 May.

                                       -PROM corsage service.  Not for profit.

                                       -FOTA will run concession stand during the summer softball games.

                                       -FOTA will need a new co-chair next year.  Sara Russell will resign.

 

Box Tops:  -Need to be in by June 4th. 

                    -Need someone to fill this chair. 

 

Membership: not present.

 

International Dinner: -Nothing new to report.

                                       -Need a co-chair for next year.

                                       -Need to buy more tables next year.

 

Scholarship: -Chairperson TDY-sent in report.

                       -Everything in, double checking legibility.

                       -Scholarships to be awarded 30 May.

 

Brigands Bash: -Need volunteers!!

                           -Bash is planned, flyers going home 13 May.

                           -Will sell Carnival game tickets.

                           -Meeting set w/Garrison Commander to discuss security issues.

                          

 

Hospitality: -5-9 May was Teacher Appreciation Week

                      -Held 6 May Breakfast for Faculty & Staff.  Thank you to VP Programming for                              cooking.

                      -8 May will be a Salad/Dessert Lunch for Faculty/Staff.

New Business: 

 

New Monetary Requests:

 

1.  Physical Fitness teacher grades K-6, Physical Fitness items, approved for $70.75

 

2. Second Grade Teacher, Weekly Reader Subscription for K-3rd, approved for $417.01 (yearly subscription)

 

3. VP ES/MS, Painted Past Productions coming 1 Oct, approved up to $1000.00 to be spilt             with FOTA (FOTA still has to present at their meeting)

 

4. Sponsor of OM & OM Students, Money for Competition- “World Final Trip”, approved for $2000.00.  Thank you to students for very detailed and professional letter.

 

5. Physical Fitness Teacher K-6, Elementary Field Day, pre-approved for up to $150.00.  Teacher had not put in Monetary Request as of this date.

 

PTSO By-Laws: -Approved. 

 

Closing:

The next meeting is Wednesday, 4 June @ 1525. 

The meeting was adjourned at 1655.
